TK & K ENROLLMENT DETAILS

  • To register for Kindergarten, a child must turn 5 on or before September 1 of the school year they begin attending.

  • With some caveats, students are eligible for TK if they turn 4 by September 1 (of the year they attend).  Until full implementation in 2025-26, the state has defined elibility "tiers" based upon birthdates. Read below for more details.

    _____________________________________________________________________________________

    2023-2024  |  3 TIERS OF ELIGIBILITY

    “Tier 1” Eligibility = students who turn 5 between September 2, 2023 and April 2, 2024

    • Tier 1 students who live in our district are guaranteed enrollment.
    • Tier 1 students who live outside of our district may be enrolled as space allows.

    “Tier 2” Eligibility = students who turn 5 between April 3, 2024 and June 1, 2024

    • Tier 2 students may be enrolled as space allows, but enrollment is not guaranteed.
    • As space allows, enrollment for Tier 2 is prioritized for students who live within district boundaries and who may have siblings already attending BVUSD.

    “Tier 3” Eligibility = students who turn 5 between June 2, 2024 and September 1, 2024

    • Tier 3 students may be enrolled as space allows, but enrollment is not guaranteed.
    • As space allows, enrollment for Tier 3 is prioritized for students who live within district boundaries and who may have siblings already attending BVUSD.

    _____________________________________________________________________________________

    2024-2025 |  2 TIERS OF ELIGIBILITY

    “Tier 1” Eligibility = students who turn 5 between September 2, 2024 and June 2, 2025

    • Tier 1 students who live in our district are guaranteed enrollment.
    • Tier 1 students who live outside of our district may be enrolled as space allows.

    “Tier 2” Eligibility = students who turn 5 between June 3, 2025 and September 1, 2025

    • Tier 2 students may be enrolled as space allows, but enrollment is not guaranteed.
    • As space allows, enrollment for Tier 2 is prioritized for students who live within district boundaries and who may have siblings already attending BVUSD.

There is no “Tier 3” Eligibility in 2024-25.

    _____________________________________________________________________________________

2025-2026 (& thereafter) | FULL IMPLEMENTATION (no tiers)

Beginning in the 2025-26 school year, eligibility for TK is defined by students who turn 4 by September 1 of the school year they begin attending.

Please talk to the school office about eligibility and waitlists.

Please contact the Yulupa School office at 707-542-6272 with any questions.

  • Please see above for birthdate requirements.

Eligible students (per birthdate requirements) may register with the following required materials:

    1. STUDENT REGISTRATION PACKET: Please complete Registration Form, Parent Questionnaire Form, and Health History Form before you arrive for registration.

    2. VERIFICATION OF ADDRESS: MUST be a PG&E bill, rental agreement or home purchase agreement which includes your name and address.

    3. PROOF OF AGE:  Proof of age is required of all incoming students. The legal evidence of age, in order of desirability, is birth certificate, passport, or immigration certificate.

Prior to starting school, the following items are required by July preceeding their start date.

    1. PHYSICAL EXAM: Children are required by California state law to have a physical examination no earlier than six months before entering kindergarten and no later than the time they enter kindergarten. Please have your physician complete the form.
    2. IMMUNIZATION RECORD: According to state law we cannot allow a student to start school unless all required immunizations have been administered.  Please submit a copy of your child’s complete immunization record. For your reference, the parent’s guide to immunizations is included in this registration packet.
    3. DENTAL CHECK-UP: State law requires children to have oral health check-up upon entering their first year in a public school. Dental evaluations that have happen within the 12 months prior to school entry will meet the requirement. Please have your dentist complete the form.

If you have any questions regarding the registration forms and documentation, please contact Yulupa School office at 707-542-6272.

  • Please contact the school office.

This may be possible if it is determined to be in the best interest of the particular child, however the state requires families to complete a K Continuance Form prior to processing such a request.

The TK & K Advantage

4Cs Preschool

Did you know BVUSD has a third site?

We do! Although we don't run any of our own District programs, we have had a great relationship with the 4Cs who leases space for their free to low-cost tuition preschool program. If a more traditional transitional kindergarten isn't right for your child or you family, you might consider their reputable program located just up the hill. Take a look at their flyers below.
