Mrs. Trista Forgy
I grew up right here in Sonoma County. My favorite teacher was my 6th grade teacher, Mr. Follett, at Brook Hill Elementary in Santa Rosa. I went to middle school at Slater and high school at Montgomery, although I graduated from Red Bluff High School. I went to college at San Jose State and finished at California State University Stanislaus. I have a bachelor of arts degree in liberal studies, a minor in child development, and some post graduate work in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
I have been teaching since 2000. I started at Hidden Valley Elementary School in Santa Rosa, where my principal was my 7th grade health teacher... weird. I have been teaching in Bennett Valley since 2003, in sixth grade. I tell the students that I keep flunking, so I can stay in 6th grade where all the cool people are. I enjoy this age group. Sixth graders are smart, funny, inquisitive, inventive, thoughtful, problem solvers, and are on a journey of personal development. It is a privilege to spend time with these cool, amazing, young people.
Teaching is my passion. I love collaborating with colleagues, helping students achieve their goals, planning and creating curriculum for the ever-changing demands of education, and laughing... a lot. In may spare time, I love to cook, hike, read, and practice yoga.
