Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Emily Cheney
Hello! My name is Emily Cheney and I’m beyond excited to become a part of the Bennett Valley Union School District family! I grew up and went to school my whole life in Sonoma County and I really can’t imagine living anywhere else. I received both my Bachelor's Degree as well as my teaching credential from Sonoma State University, and I began my teaching career in 2019. I’ve taught kindergarten and 6th grade in the Rincon Valley and Mark West school districts and I’ve loved every bit of it! It’s funny to me how kindergarten and 6th grade always seemed like polar opposites, but they actually seem to have a lot in common!
My family and I have been in Santa Rosa now since 2006, and before that, we were just a little way south of here in Petaluma. Thankfully, my entire family is very close, and living in such close proximity makes family gatherings a breeze. I’m the youngest of four siblings, and have the sweetest niece and cat (named Baron), who I just adore! My fiance and I are getting married June 2021, and plan to eventually raise a family of our own here in beautiful Sonoma County!
Teaching has always been something that I knew I wanted to do. I’ve had some extremely influential teachers in my life, and my only hope is that I will someday be that teacher to my
students. I’m looking forward to the school year ahead and to meeting all of you!
