Questions and Answers

  • 1) Does my child need a backpack?

    Posted by:

Yes! Since we will have daily homework, a backpack large enough to hold your child's lunchbox and homework folder is appreciated. Please help your child keep his/her backpack clean and organized each week so that papers do not get misplaced during transition between home and school.

A supply list is posted in the school office window and on the district website. If it is a hardship to purchase supplies, let your teacher know and they will be supplied for you.

  • 3) When is a good time to catch you if I have a question?

    Posted by:

If it's something quick, then check in the morning before school or at the end of the day. If it's something that requires a lot of discussion or planning, please email to set up a meeting. Email is the best way to get in touch to schedule a meeting.

  • 5) What if my child is ill?

    Posted by:

Please use your best judgement to determine whether or not your child should come to school. If they are truly ill, please do not send them to school and call the attendance hotline to report the absence.

Please note that we are not allowed to give children medicine unless there is a doctor's note. All medication must be kept in the office. Children may not keep cough drops, inhalers or things of that nature in their backpacks.

1st Grade Treasures

  • California Treasures is our language arts curriculum. We have a designated reading block in which we use the phonics, comprehension and small group portions of Treasures. We save the grammar and writing portions of Treasures for the afternoon. All of our spelling words and sight words come from the Treasures program and match the phonic patters and content we are learning that week. Below you can find some resources and information about our Treasures reading program. You will rarely see homework from the Treasures program. However, if your child needs extra practice with high frequency words you will see FOX Words come home as homework.
