Mrs. Cheresa Lourens

My passion and love for working with young students inspired me to study Early Childhood and Elementary Education at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. Upon graduation, I taught third grade in a multi-cultural classroom for five years. During this time, I met and married the love of my life. When he was presented with a job opportunity in the US, we packed our bags and begun our adventure abroad. We were blessed with two children whom are now in middle school and high school. During their early years, I was an active volunteer in their classrooms and I pursued a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction (with focus in K-3) through Arizona State University. After graduating, I worked as an intervention teacher with students who were considered to be “at risk” to fail English Language Arts. During the past two years I have taught Kindergarten. I love teaching Kindergarten, because it allows me to draw from my creative ideas as an amateur visual artist and my love for hands-on science. It is my hope to foster a love for discovery and creative expression. I’m honored and excited to teach your child this year!
