Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Melissa Hodson
I was born and raised in Southern California. I am the older sister in my small family of four. I enjoy all things art related, especially musicals and scrap booking. I attended California State University of Long Beach, where I met my husband, and graduated with degrees in Liberal Studies and Music (I play clarinet!), as well as a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I taught in Southern California briefly before making the big move to Northern California in 2012 to teach in Santa Rosa, and I just love it here!
I have taught kindergarten, first, second, and fifth grades, as well as serving as an intervention teacher for grades K-6. Having taught many grades gives me the opportunity to know where students are coming from, and what the need to know in order to move on to the next level; this enables me to challenge each of the students to strive for their absolute best!
Our classroom is a warm and welcoming environment that fosters learning and creativity. We will learn, review, and practice the fundamentals as well as enrich those basics through themed units, projects, and more. I believe that a well-balanced education is important in helping students find their love for learning and success in the future! This will keep us hard at work this year!
