Mrs. Lara Futch

I LOVE teaching! Playing school was my favorite game growing up, and I love coming to work each day!  I grew up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, in a little town named Twain Harte. As a child I spent time roaming the forest, reading books, skiing, and watching the wildlife. I attended college at the University of California at Santa Barbara where I received Bachelors of Arts Degrees in History and Sociology. I then completed my teaching credential at San Jose State University. Before moving to Sonoma County, I taught at the Harker Academy (grades 1-3) and at Parkview Elementary (4th Grade) in San Jose.  I started teaching in Bennett Valley in 2001. I taught 5th grade for five years and have been teaching 3rd grade since 2006. My goal is always to provide a learning experience that is both fun and meaningful to all students, regardless of skill level or special needs. Each year, I strive to create a true community in my classroom, a place where students can strive to do their "personal best" in a safe and caring atmosphere. I strongly believe that a child's education must also provide the opportunity for the development of life skills such as respect, responsibility, safety, flexibility, kindness, and a strong work ethic.

When I'm not at school I love to work on graphic designs, crafts, diy projects, and playing with my kids! I live in Santa Rosa with my husband, Michael, and my three sons, Camden, Chaelo, and Colton. We love to spend time playing outside camping, going on long walks, and enjoying nature.
