Classified Substitutes
We are looking to compile a list of classified substitutes to cover for a variety of classified positions which may include supporting instruction, providing one-on-one student support, and providing assistance and supervision during lunch and recess. Student Support Paraprofessional
2 Positions at Strawberry | Monday 8:15 – 1:45 + Tuesday – Friday 8:15 – 2:50
1 Position at Yulupa | Monday 8:20 – 1:30 + Tuesday – Friday 8:20 – 2:30
Pay | Classification E of the Classified Salary Schedule
Position Overview:
Under the direction of the classroom teacher and the Special Education case carrier, and under the supervision of the principal, the Student Support Paraprofessional works per the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to assist a special needs child in a general education and/or special education placement. The Student Support Para may be assigned to a specific classroom or multiple classrooms and may serve students with any, or a combination of, the following conditions: mental retardation, autism, physical/medical involvement (e.g., cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, brain disorders, etc.), communication disorders (including non-verbal), hearing/vision impairment, learning disorders, emotional disturbances, behavior disorders and physical disabilities.
Employment Standards/Education | Highly qualified per current State or Federal definition:
High school diploma or the equivalent &
Two years of college (48 units), or A. A. degree (or higher), or pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting instruction
Experience working with children with special needs
Pass the pre-employment physical and vision test
Negative tuberculin test
Pass fingerprint background check
CPR/First Aid Certification (district provided)
Spanish-speaking preferred but not required
