Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Tricia Ward

I am so excited to be teaching kindergarten! I began teaching at Bennett Valley Unified in 2007, and spent my first eleven years teaching fourth grade. I know that teaching is my true calling because I am endlessly delighted by my students, and I am motivated to continually improve my professional skills and knowledge. Teaching helps me to grow as a person, and allows me to highlight the importance of empathy and kindness while we move about our world. The most important lesson I’ve learned is that every child is a special little soul who deserves to be valued and loved. When a child feels safe and accepted, then the academic and social learning can begin.

I earned my B.A. in Communication Studies at Cal Poly, SLO; my M.A. in Communications (with emphases in education and business) at Sacramento State; and my Teaching Credential at Sonoma State. Before becoming an elementary school teacher, I learned a great deal in the business world. I worked for many years for a large family winery in sales administration and education, and also enjoyed being a pharmaceutical sales representative for three different companies.

Some of my favorite things include:
-Anything to do with Hawaii (getting into the ocean to swim, snorkel, paddle, or surf; the Hawaiian culture and history; and all of the beautiful flowers and animals that live there).
-Being asked to share stories, photos or videos of my little boy Wyatt, and learning about your family’s stories and experiences.
-Reading, laughing, and enjoying the people in my life.

I can't wait to get to know all of you this year!
