Distance Learning Information

  • April 1, 2020 Update

Very sadly, in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID 19, Governor Gavin Newsom and State Superintendent Tony Thurmond announced today that school should continue to take place via distance learning rather than on school campuses throughout the remainder of the 2019-20 school year throughout California. We respect the medical science that was considered in making this difficult decision. We are here for you!  Our teachers will be providing quality distance learning activities for your child for as long as this lasts.  While we cannot replace a 6 hour school day with your child’s teacher, students will be provided with grade-level appropriate work to help them continue to learn, practice, and apply their skills, read, write, and stay connected. On April 6th, Distance Learning Calendars will be posted here and emailed home.  Beginning April 10th, calendars will be emailed home and posted on Friday afternoons. Many more resources are included in the April 1 email home.

Stay well! Sue Field, Ed.D., Superintendent

Our Schools

  • Bennett Valley Union School District serves students from preschool to grade six in its two schools, Strawberry and Yulupa. The district's schools are located in Southeast Santa Rosa in quiet, residential neighborhoods combining the best of rural and suburban settings.  The Bennett Valley Union School District is a school community where the state of the arts in teaching and learning meld with the past, teaching children of their roots, while providing them wings for tomorrow. Within a learning climate that encourages innovation and creativity, children are nurtured to learn a broad-based academic and extended curriculum necessary for their continuing education and future success. Parent involvement, a hallmark of our district, is vitally important to our overall educational program.
